Nursing Grad Resumes; How to Write a Nursing Resume With no Experience
Write a strong nursing resume objective.
If you are trying to get a nursing job is a brand-new graduate you probably don’t have a long history of nursing jobs. You will have other jobs that you can use as an example of how you have been a responsible employee, but your nursing resume objective is going to be your opportunity to talk about how you want to get a job in healthcare field. The only thing about having a nursing objective is that you need to remember to change it for every single job that you apply to; you don’t want to talk about how you want to work with children when you’re turning in a job to work in a convalescent center!
Detail your nursing education and any academic achievements.
If you are writing a nursing resume with no experience, you’re going to need to focus on your academic achievements. Talk about the specific things that you studied in nursing school, any specializations, and any noteworthy achievements you are recognized for academically.
Use your new graduate nursing resume to talk about your previous work experience.
Just because you are a new nursing graduate, doesn’t mean that you don’t have lots of valuable work history from previous jobs. In fact, if you are writing a nursing resume with no experience, you are going to have to heavily rely on your previous work history in order to prove that you have experience being an employee at all.
Almost every single job out there has what is called transferable skills. For example, if you have worked in customer service field, employers will see that you like we have the same tact, responsibility, and problem solving skills that would be helpful to a person in the nursing field.
Talk about experience you gained from internship opportunities.
A nursing resume with no experience should focus on the hands-on skills they gathered during their internship positions that they held while they were getting their degree. Talk about specific wards that you worked in, and populations that you worked with.
Just remember; the first nursing job is that hardest one to get! Don’t get discouraged.
