Is Resume Software Worth the Investment?

This argument is at first glance not without merit.

Here are my thoughts on the different types of job situation where it may be a good idea to look at resume software.

If you are looking at a job that is classed as unskilled then you may have a problem. In today’s climate many unskilled jobs are being exported to areas of the world where labour rates are low.

This means you are looking for employment in a shrinking marketplace.

There are a number of choices open to you. Two of the most likely are, you could retrain for another type of occupation or you could remain in the same area of employment. In either case you are going to have to produce a resume.

If your are still in the competitive situation you need to produce the best possible resume to give you an advantage over the other candidates.

If you have retrained, you will definitely need an excellent resume to show that you are worthy of consideration for a position where you have little or no previous experience.

If you you are looking for a more skilled or higher management position, ask yourself the following questions: do I really want this job and is there likely to be more than one applicant? If the answer to both these is yes, then you need a profession looking resume.

So, a well created resume is an essential part of any attempt to gain employment.

As resume software is a very useful tool to assist in the making of your resume, you have to ask yourself, not, can I afford to buy resume software, but can I afford not to try to gain every possible advantage in my quest for my dream job.
